Wigan 2011
Where appropriate, the Children with Complex Needs Team will be raising invoices for any amounts due to them over the coming fortnight. Any cheques payable to Leisure for Autism that we have already received will be destroyed once we receive confirmation that the child's place has been funded by the CCNT.
Over the 12 days a total of 19 children attended for 121 days.
Over 60% attended no other organised schemes over the holiday period. When asked which were the favourite activities the most popular answers were 'all of them', swimming and visiting the park. When asked what they would like to see for next year the main answers were swimming and horse riding.
Over three quarters of the parents said their child’s physical health was improved, nearly 70% said their confidence and self-esteem improved and over 60% said they were able to undertake community activities while their children were with us.
We asked for comments from the parents as follows:
What benefits were there to your child?
He has had the most fun fortnight ever - thanks for making it possible.
She slept better at night.
Exploring outside. Enjoying playing with other children. Learning how to manage himself.
Decreasing his anxiety levels.
Social skills, behaviour when out skills.
What benefits to the rest of the family?
I was able to go shopping without worrying about her all the time. Was able to spend quality time without other children. They were able to have friends a round without worrying about her all the time.
The LfA scheme was brilliant. We know she was having a great time while we went out for days with her sisters.
Trips out with my daughter doing things he doesn't like doing. We went swimming - normally all my attention is on him and she feels left out.
His sister got one to one time at home.
General Comments
I would like to thank all your team for starting this scheme. She attended it for the first time and she absolutely loved it! Can I register for next year now?
Excellent service. Vital. Team leader is fantastic. Thank you LfA.
He enjoyed the scheme and all of the staff were really lovely.
Keep up the good work. These schemes are invaluable.
This year's scheme was the best to date. She had a brilliant summer thanks to your efforts.
It's a pity the scheme is only for a week. Could do with a bit longer.
He has attended the scheme for many years now so the staff fell almost like family to him.
They are very caring and professional. I have nothing negative to say.
